IVSR professional standards and certification schemes

IVSR develops its own professional standards for clearly defined knowledge and skills. Each scheme is self-contained, transparent and published on its own subdomain; this page is an introduction with pointers.

Scheme status

This is IVSR's own professional certification scheme. The certificate confirms that the holder has met the published requirements and passed the assessment under the rules of the specific scheme. The certificate is not issued under a scheme accredited by an external accreditation body.

What each scheme publishes

  • The purpose and scope of the scheme.
  • The target group and entry conditions.
  • The catalogue of required knowledge, skills and responsibilities.
  • The mode of training and assessment, and the criteria for success.
  • Requirements for the competence and independence of assessors.
  • Re-sit rules, the appeals procedure, grounds for withdrawal and renewal conditions.
  • The validity period and any conditions for maintaining competence.
  • How an issued certificate can be verified publicly, with appropriate data protection.
  • A clear statement of the scheme's status and any external accreditation.

A scheme is published only once its learning outcomes, assessment criteria, assessor requirements, appeals procedure, validity period, register of issued certificates and precise accreditation-status statement are defined.
